NEWS Centek centralizers are being used in the Eden Project’s first geothermal well
We’re excited to announce that Centek single piece centralizers are being used in the Eden Project’s first geothermal well. This world-renowned enterprise in Cornwall, UK has long pioneered environmental initiatives and is on track to be carbon neutral by 2023.
Our heat-treated centralizers are designed to be able to perform even in the high temperature and extreme pressures of a geothermal well, creating a good cement sheath and protecting the local environment from leaks. A combination of the new OBS-2 for the vertical sections and the S2 for the horizontal sections of the wellbore where its runability, strength and flexibility are most needed, has been specified by Halliburton, the contractor.
These products are to be shipped just 65 miles down the road from our Newton Abbot manufacturing base. The first geothermal well has been developed to power over 5,000 nearby homes, with a second well planned. Drilling started in May 2021 with the completion likely in September
